The Company: One of the world's leading chemical distributors requires an experienced External Account Manager to expand the sales of food grade chemicals into manufacturing companies across the South West. A product range of over 10,000 Specialist in industrial and bulk chemicals The go to company for specialist chemicals knowledge A brands that is synonymous with quality The Role: Field based External Account Manager Role Selling the wide portfolio of complex commoditised chemical products and ingredients including sweeteners, oils and starches to food manufacturers within the South West. Typical week - 1 day at a depot, 1 at home. 3 days out a week conducting 3 visits per day on average. Of the 9 visits 7 expected to be new business (not new name but growing account spend typically). Face to face sales calls and commercial negotiations with buyers, legal and senior management teams. Quotas each month. Open and develop new trading accounts via cold calling, following up on leads. Creating and maintaining a sales plan for the area, monitoring and mapping time scales and actions required to achieve growth. Liaise with BDMs (technical people) to maximise and close sales opportunities. Complete Visit Reports daily, allowing relevant members of the sales support team to follow up any actions The Ideal Person: The candidate will have food industry experience - namely ingredients, flavours or an appreciation of the food and beverage industries. The area has been account managed - there is a huge requirement and also opportunity for new business with low hanging fruit. Proven track record in account management Experience managing a over 100 accounts Experience working with many SKUs Will consider people outside this who have managed medium to large industrial accounts in other markets Good listener and communicator (solution selling) Consultant: Guy Marshall Candidates must be eligible to work and live in the UK.
