Salary: Unspecified
Job category: Technical
Employment type: Any ,

Job role: Food Microbiology Team Leader
Job reference: 889069132

Food microbiology is all about studying the small things that make a big difference. It?s similar to good leadership. It?s not about abrasive ordering and tunnel vision; it?s multitasking and pulling all the little strings together to yield one big driving force. You know all about this. It?s your passion for science and food microbiology that drives you ? a natural leader. ALS, in partnership with Recart, is seeking a microbiologist with a strong technical pedigree related to food products. Your Role: Leading a team of 15 (some chatty, some focused), you?ll build on previous experience as a positive, unifying influence among different character types. You can lead and inspire a team, not just be part of a team. Building on technical knowledge gained from employment and not just academic experience, you?ll be overseeing large numbers of samples; we test in excess of 10,000 samples per week. In addition to preparing samples, you?ll report the findings and release the data to clients via our LIMS system. Having previously led teams of at least 10 people, you?ll have the organisational skills to manage our team?s workload and liaise with senior technicians and microbiologists. If you have training and mentoring experience, great. Confident and versatile, your communication skills will be called on for providing updates to external clients. You?ll have strong oral and written English and be comfortable fielding multiple client questions whilst reporting results and updates in a busy environment. Ready to investigate anomalies and uphold high-quality testing in a laboratory environment, you?ll most likely have experience in QMS ISO 17025 ? or at least some familiarity. Why US? A growing, UK-wide food and pharmaceutical laboratory business specialising in testing, the company focuses on quality. We don?t just churn data, we listen, we understand, and we communicate. We?re not the cheapest; we deliver value for the investment. Our quality sets us apart. The food testing industry is only going to get bigger. Our site has received some £1.4 million investment over the past three years; you?ll be gaining a stable and exciting platform for your career. The company takes pride in support and procedures to harness carer progression. Our senior managers have a keen eye for genuine passion and developing talent. They?ve lived the journey themselves, and you can follow in their footsteps. Your next manager joined us as a Beaker Cleaner in 2004 ? now she?s a Laboratory Manager. Your Working Environment: The hub of food testing in the UK, Chatteris is a rural and scenic market town within commutable reach of Peterborough, Cambridge and Huntingdon. Your working week will be Sunday to Wednesday, 12pm to 11pm, so you can enjoy hard-earned, three-day weekends on a weekly basis. Overtime is paid. In addition to a competitive basic salary, based on experience, you?ll have 20 days? holiday plus stats and a card offering discounts at a wide range of high street shops. Interested? Please apply with an up-to-date and tailored CV. A cover letter, explaining your interest, is encouraged. Please Note : When applying for one of our vacancies, we will create a private application on our website so that the employer can view and respond to you.
