Food Technologist (NPD) ? Middlesex Salary £33,000 pa to £37,000 pa The Company An ambitious organisation operating within the fast-growing ?Free From? category and specialising in supplying both branded and private label foods to a wide range of markets such as Retail, Wholesale, Industrial/Manufacturing, Bakeries, Quick Serve Restaurants. The Role The Food Technologist appointed will assist the business in developing novel products for market with a focus on organic, gluten free, high protein foods. The Food technologist will have a good understanding of consumer trends and will develop products that delight customers and fill a niche within the ?Free From? category. With a focus on innovation, the Technologist appointed will work closely with marketing, sales, production, operations and customers to create market?leading products and introduce them into production, through trials initially and then full-scale manufacturing within a modern manufacturing facility. The Technologist will take on projects from concept to launch, working to agreed budgets, specifications and timelines. There will be a specific task to develop and maintain recipe lists and specifications and an opportunity to liaise with suppliers regarding the supply of raw materials and calculate nutritional data on finished products. The individual appointed will work with the marketing team to advise on nutritional guidance, packaging text and product health claims. Applicants knowledge should extend to labelling laws, EU food legislation, food safety, and project management abilities. The Person We are seeking an individual with excellent written and verbal communication skills, combined with a Bachelor Degree in Nutrition or Food Technology and a real interest in Nutrition and healthy/organic food. All applicants should be able to demonstrate knowledge of NPD processes, Allergens, and BRC. Understanding of packaging development would be beneficial, as would an eye for spotting food trends and sustainability issues.
