GBR Recruitment Ltd are working in partnership with a leading food processing business, recruiting for an experience H&S Manager to join the team responsible for all Health, Safety & Environmental measures. This is a fantastic opportunity for an up and coming H&S / HSE professional looking for that next challenge within a fun, vibrant working atmosphere, within a progressive company that believes in developing it's employees as well as offering them real career progression too. Ideally you will come from a food manufacturing, food processing, food wholesale, foodservice, food distribution or food logistics background. Purpose of the role: Responsible for championing & monitoring of safety, environmental & security activities to ensure compliance with UK legislative requirements & to advise management on safety, environmental & security best practice. Key Tasks & Responsibilities: Create and maintain a vibrant health & safety culture. Produce and manage a site safety plan to meet HSE guidelines. Mentor & support departmental safety & environmental activities. Chair monthly H&S meeting. Support departmental management in the development of risk assessments & safe systems of work. Ensure work permit programme suitable and adhered to. Support departmental management in the investigation of accidents & incidents. Review accident investigation submissions for adequacy & accuracy. Review accidents & decide whether they require submission to the HSE under the RIDDOR regulations. Liaise with the companies? insurers & their agents in matters pertaining to health & safety. Conduct routine reviews of training requirements across site including engineering to ensure the site and staff are operating in a safe and responsible manner. Regular review of site fabric/structure with the engineering to ensure safety and compliance, lead appropriate action where appropriate. Assist management in capability assessments of staff with short & long term medical conditions. Develop site emergency plan. Management regulatory and ACOP compliance in all areas e.g. PUWER, LOLER, COSHH, PSSR, Asbestos and Legionella/L8. Maintain and publish a calendar of key safety activities and regulatory inspection dates. Keep abreast of developments and legislative changes through Continuous Personal Development. Environment: Source & arrange environmental training. Monitor compliance against ISO14001. Ensure the Spalding site is aligned with the Gousto environmental agenda. Management of waste and recycling providers. Maintain and publish a calendar of key environmental activities and regulatory inspection dates. Keep abreast of developments and legislative changes through Continuous Personal Development. Security Source & arrange security training. Develop & manage an effective security resource for the site. Review & update site security assessments. Decision Authority Purchasing from approved suppliers items & services related to safety, environment or security. Attendance at meetings off site associated with Environment. Security, Safety or First Aid RIDDOR Submissions Qualifications & Skills Requirements: Qualified to NEBOSH Diploma level or equivalent with significant H&S Management experience, preferably gained in preferably in FMCG environment. Chartered Member of IOSH (CMIOSH) or equivalent Flexible approach to work, able to manage own priorities and workload Able to effectively influence team Excellent communication and influencing skills - result orientated and tenacious An in-depth understanding of essential/relevant EU & UK H&S legislation Demonstrable record of driving significant change through an operation Environmental qualification/experience an advantage Excellent I.T. skills with Microsoft Office (Especially Excel) Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including ability to effectively communicate with internal and external customers.
