The Role

Here at Hain Daniels we are currently recruiting for a Health and Safety Manager at our Grimsby site. Here, we manufacture fresh soups and ready meals, for our own brands, under license, and for private label products.

The Health and Safety Manager will provide advice and guidance to Factory site Leadership Team, and workers alike at the Lakeside site in Grimsby.

Key Responsibilities

  • Implement and manage the Company’s H&S Policy and Procedures thereby ensuring the health safety and welfare of the workforce; meeting business statutory obligations with all current H&S Legislation.
  • Manage the Safety Plan, internal audits and safety activities.
  • Lead with behavioural safety, and work towards improving the safety culture, sharing best practice.
  • Ensure General, Manual Handling, Repetitive Handling, COSHH, Health, Noise, Fire, and Display Screen Assessments are conducted, recorded and reviewed periodically for all work activities.
  • Manage the monthly Safety Meetings, Record and distribute the Minutes of the Meeting.  Monitor and review completion of the follow up activities.
  • Maintain the site safety tours (TOPS) and encourage full attendance from the SLT. Encourage the site to deliver TOPS Behavioural Discussions to target.
  • Conduct Tool Box Talks on a variety of subjects as and when required.
  • Approve the SOPs and ensure they are linked where appropriate to Risk Assessments.
  • Monitor and review the Risk Assessments and ensure implementation of the corrective actions.
  • Recording of reporting of all: Accidents, Minor, LTA and RIDDOR. Also near-misses and hazard reporting.
  • Maintain relevant standards for the site.

What you will need for the role / what it will take

  • NEBOSH General.
  • Train the Trainer qualified, with ability to adapt training style.
  • 3 years' experience of managing safety, ideally in a food or related industry.
  • An understanding of behavioural safety and willingness to be an active player and leading the Hain Daniels Behavioural Safety Programme at site.
  • Be an effective communicator, with the ability to influence and support behavioural change at all levels.
  • IT proficient with Word Processing, Spreadsheets, PowerPoint and email.
