The Role

Here at Hain Daniels we currently recruiting for a Senior Planner at the Histon site in Cambridge. 

As a Lead Planner, you are responsible for making sure the Planning Teams output is in line with the agreed visions, values and targets of the Business and the Supply Chain Manager : to maintain an agile, dynamic and efficient downstream Supply Chain to deliver best in class service in a least-cost and lean environment.

Our end to end supply chain goals are efficiency, zero shorts, zero short codes, agility by design, cost effectiveness, transparent, dynamic and in line with our strategic visions and values. You will achieve this through detailed analysis of our numbers, capacities, capabilities and constraints : by linking our Planners to ensure a cohesive and logical process is being followed; flagging risks and opportunities to the Supply Chain Manager in a timely fashion to allow critical decisions to be made without detriment to service or cost.

You will be responsible for the RCCP, identification of Risks & Opportunities, reports and KPI’s on a weekly, monthly, annual and periodic basis to allow the Supply Chain Manager make strategic decisions with key stakeholders within the framework of the S&OP+ cycle : whilst supporting the Planning Team in the short term / day-to-day to deliver our target of >99% service to all our customers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Value Adding: Ensure that all activities within the department (downstream of manufacturing) are, at all times, value adding towards the Company visions and Values, the Company strategy, Departmental targets and objectives as agreed with the Supply Chain Manager.
  • Once complete, the RCCP are re-cut based on any agreements made in the Supply Chain Forum and put forward into the S&OP+ for authorisation.
  • Stock Strategy: Review all stock strategies with each Planner on a quarterly basis : (reporting back on any changes made with reasons to the Supply Chain Manager) taking into account recent Forecast v Actual Sales (variation and bias) overlaid onto the key assumptions above. This will identify if minimum and target stocks need to change to ensure that we (a) provide 99.5% service to our customers and (b) waste zero stock in terms of SARS sell/write-off.
  • Forecasts: working closely with the Demand Team so that our plans reflect the Commercial and Sales visions for our Customers future : aligned with our own visions for service and cost control.
  • Key Assumptions: Prepare the deck and chair the monthly Supply Chain Forum : key objectives of which are to get sign-off by key stakeholders (Operations, Engineering, Planning, Demand)
  • Conducting 121 reviews in terms of progress against targets and objectives and implementing / recommending actions where required to drive performance / delivery : reporting monthly to SCM. 
  • Training plans are planned, resourced and fit for purpose in terms of delivering Departmental and therefore Company strategy.
  • Downtime assumptions (Planned Maintenance, Major Interventions). All of these then feed into the S&OP+ deck for the Supply Chain Manager where the risks and opportunities identified in the preceding forums are escalated, where applicable, for decision making.
  • Demand initiatives : that are either (a) live in Exceedra or (b) proposed by NPD, Sales, Marketing and/or Commercial.
  • To carry out the day to day supervision of team attendance, delivery of daily tasks.
  • Key Relationships: Internal key stakeholders : Engineering, Operations, Finance, Technical Manager, Demand & Forecasting, Team, I.T.

What you will need for the role / what it will take

  • Essential: Graduate/Degree, Driving Licence
  • Essential: 3 : 5 years in FMCG Planning / Supply Chain
  • Essential:  Microsoft Excel, English speaking, Supply Chain Planning, I.T. Skills, excellent presentation Skills, highly numerate, statistical analysis
